Wow -- you have a lot on your plate Jay! Like you said, I hope a second opinion brings better news. And like others have said, you'll be in my prayers.

And yes, we all need to be sure to stay on top of health stuff. Even if you feel OK, better to let a doctor tell you that you are OK. Guys especially tend to belittle health issues and shrug off pain. Never a good idea!

My heart and kidney issues might have been much less major than they turned out to be (aortic valve and aortic root replacement, kidney transplant) if I had addressed them immediately instead of procrastinating... but I just got a clean bill of health, relatively speaking, from the cardiologist and kidney doctor. Next is the endocrinologist on Monday, and then the dentist and the GI doctor...

We have a new server and I'm going to wipe everything that people aren't using.
So I guess I'd better get busy with my site then...?

She actually has quite a few following the same general idea, so here's a link to her Youtube channel:   ;)

General Writing Forum / Re: Resurrected A.CF content
« on: July 23, 2018, 01:36:48 AM »
I had actually started typing out the A.CF add-a-chapter stuff I'd printed out, but I'll try scanning it and see what happens. I've only tried scanning on my home machine as pixels, never text stuff, so this will be new to me. I thought about trying at work, but the Create PDF function on our printers at work, besides SAVING!! a copy of every document, will basically only make a faded picture of each page, not a document I could edit if need be...

I've been using an app for a local taxi service for fairly short rides, and each time when I rate the driver the app asks me "are you sure you don't want to tip your driver?" Maybe I'd better start 😆

Off-Topic Board / Skynet on the X-Files

I just watched an episode of the new X-Files series. The onscreen synopsis said something about a cat-and-mouse game with the collision of AI and automation. (Nice reminder that they are two different things...) Apparently at some point -- I didn't see the beginning of the episode -- Mulder skipped tipping thru some restaurant's app, and things just escalated quickly until it was like Skynet was sending its full arsenal after him and Scully. Well, *a* full arsenal at least -- all sizes of drones, a robo-vacuum, cell phones, televisions, the engine computer on Scully's car, and dozens of little robots in the factory they were taking refuge in. Interesting and silly the way it all ended...

I finally found them this morning!  :D  Now to decide whether to scan the pages in, or retype the content. I'll try scanning first to see how the scans come out...

I love all this new video/gif stuff!  :D  Any chance of a pair of women's jeans or leggings walking around soon?  ;)

I'd love to see a version of that famous Janet Jackson Rolling Stone cover, with the woman's "hand-bra" being a pair of empty gloves  :D

I found this last night
Just imagine that the girl is a witch and shes bringing her boyfriend's jeans to life by...stroking them
That account's called VHS Chorizo. That's "video sausage."  :D

And, Joe, I have a question is kind of inspired by Lurking Rioter's questions: Did Feminalia play any part in all this? (I really have to get back to that story :o and to my site 😲)

Actually, he was in Africa when he got burned. He was dumped in Miami.

:o Oops, didn't realize. I only saw the reruns on MyNetwork (My9 in NY), and it had been on for awhile when I started watching. Thanks for the update!  :D

I don't know if I ever mentioned this, but I definitely didn't just think of it -- your description here of Kalin's and Bailey's situation(s) kind of reminds me of "burned spies," which concept I'd never heard of until the show Burn Notice came out.

Michael Westin, the burned spy central to the show, was in Miami when the CIA (I believe) cut ties to him. He's left to ally himself with a bomb-happy ex-girlfriend (she was kicked out of the IRA for being too free with bombs!), his resentful mother (who quickly comes around), an alkie ex-FBI agent who's basically baby-sitting him for the Feds, and (eventually) an FBI intelligence analyst who Westin accidentally burns  :o .

He basically becomes a mercenary doing whatever jobs he can to put him in place to find out who burned him and clear his name, providing such jobs don't take him out of Miami, where any Fed or wannabe Fed can take him out. No one can (legally) touch him in Miami. This leaves him open for all kinds of shady characters who know his situation -- arms dealers, crooked Feds, other ex-Feds, the Mob, all kind of international baddies, and so on -- to offer him (or force him to take) jobs he wouldn't otherwise touch.

Makes me wonder just how Kalin and Bailey will keep themselves busy  ???

<Vanessa Williams 4evar> :D

Did I ever tell you my kind-of connection to Vanessa Williams?

In 1983, when she won Miss America, I was working for the local Gannett Newspapers office. The next morning our supervisor told us that two years earlier, Vanessa Williams was working in that same office selling newspaper subs like we were doing.

Fourteen years later, when I started at the job I'm at now (21 years this month!) the oldest member of our workgroup mentioned some kind of wingding going on in NYC, and that she'd be going "as the guest of my next door neighbor. You may have heard of her. Vanessa Williams?" By that time, of course, Vanessa was no longer living in Millwood NY but her parents still were, next door to my coworker...
